Without a shadow of a doubt, Bay Sixty6 is the UK’s most Iconic Skate Park... Born out of the heady days of the 70’s, in a space underneath the Westway Road system on the west side of London, when ripping apart your baby sister’s roller skates and nailing the trucks to a plank meant you were going to get a ride... way before that phrase meant anything other than skating.
The Director of Arkitainer, Matt, who’s is old enough to still be apologising to his sister about the rollerskates, was approached by Sam of Brinkworth, to work on the refurbishment of, possibly the most culturally important space of his childhood.
Under Urb-Orbis, specialists in skate park design, Matt and Sam worked to create a redevelopment that brought the Zone up to date, maintained the integrity born out of the rebellious nature that established BaySixty6 in the first place... and delivered!
The Ultimate client was Nike. We didn’t Just do it... we did it with style!
Thanks to Louise Melchoir for her great photography.
